Astrology January 2019
Happy New Year Everyone!!
This New Year is definitely going to feel like a New Year! If you’re reading this early, you might be wondering what I’m on about, but trust me, you’ll see. We have several shifts & changes right from the get go, so by week two of January, we’re off! The Sun is in Capricorn, as it always is at this time, but all the other Planets are moving & shaking & we have the first of five Eclipses happening on the 6th… more on that in a minute.
First off, Mercury, our Captain of thought process & conversation is moving out of Sagittarius & into Capricorn around the 6th, right on that Eclipse. Actually, I’m quite happy for him to be there as Capricorn is a steadying Sign, very grounded & reasonable. With all the Energy flying around, He’s much better placed here than in Sag, where He tends to over promise, under deliver & be more about thinking than doing. Just as He leaves the Sign of the Centaur though, Venus will be walking in! On the 9th She’s FINALLY moving out of Scorpio, where She’s been since September 2018. That’s a very long time for the Goddess of love & money to have been in such intense, shadowy waters. Hopefully you’ll have sorted through much of the darkness & released many a demon. You’ll be in a much better place to enjoy some lighter times now & feel some warmth in your bones again. From what I’ve heard along the way, it’s been rough! & if you haven’t been effected, chances are someone near & dear to you has been… it’s time to look up & see the Sun again.
Just before the above two Planets shift, on the 3rd, Mars leaves Pisces, where He’s been a tad melancholy, de-motivated & a little awash. I’m not quite sure how any of us actually had the energy to survive Christmas & the New Year, it’s been like trying to run in waist high treacle, but we made it & now we get our spark back! Mars dictates our actions & gives confidence & He’s going into Aries, first of the Fire Signs & Ruled by Mars. Mars LOVES to be in Aries! He’s coming out of the swamp, grabbing His towel & setting a big bon fire. Mars in Aries is the motivated, “Can Do” guy! It’s around this time you’ll likely feel fired up & inspired about 2019. Jupiter is also still in Fellow Fire Sign Sadge, so He’ll be helping us all see the bigger picture & moving us forward toward our expansion.
Uranus is also on the move & as always with Him, He’s kinda forced changes in our lives. Ones that likely came in around April last year. But as He went Retrograde, it was difficult to actually implement & get used to what went down then. Now, on the 8th, He’s going Direct. So we get another jolt of Energy a couple of days after the first Eclipse. Whatever knot you’ve been grappling with should start to untangle! It could be a physical one, in which case solutions should begin to avail themselves, but if it was a mental thing? Here’s your light bulb moment. Uranus is the Sky God, He’s the Lord of Lightning, so expect a flash or two. In a couple of Months He’ll move into Taurus & we’ll have another set of changes coming in. We won’t see him in Aries again in our life times, many will be relieved to hear it. The past eight Years have been Very Full On.
Neptune, Master of dreams, creativity & possible delusion is going to be starting an epic conversation with Jupiter in the second week of January. It’s going to be a long one, lasting most of the Year, on & off. As Neptune is an Outer Planet, His effects are often extremely subtle, so you have to consciously check in on Him. He ticks away in the background & you can wake up lost, if you aren’t paying attention. Both Jupiter & Neptune deal with Faith & have to be balanced out. Too little & things seem hopeless yet too much is outright dangerous! The fact that both Planets are in their own Signs makes them Super Powers, so there can be a tendency to trust a little too much, or over idealise a person or situation. I’d say our best motto is “if it quacks like a duck, it’s probably a duck”. Keep those tootsies FIRMLY on the ground & please, don’t take things at face value… do your research & don’t take risks. Snake charmers come into their own with such Astral influences, ok!? If you get lost, talk to a close friend, or a trained professional for some level headed advice.
Saturn & Pluto are both still in Capricorn of course & they’re featured heavily this Month. This Eclipse Season kicks off with the New Moon Eclipse occurring in between them. You know, neither of these guys muck around! They’re working towards their Conjunction, so it’s all part of a process & our structures are slowly but surely transforming. With Jupiter & Neptune, Religion, Spirituality, healing & art will be going through changes. With these other two, politics, government, infrastructure… the stock market & banking are highlighted. I’d say that’s not a bad thing, many of us are *so over* the imbalances surrounding us. Power shifts to the pillars of Society will abound. Again I’d say to play it safe throughout 2019 & not take any big gambles.
The New Moon is a Partial Solar one, happening on Sunday January 6th, at 12:28 @15 Degrees of Capricorn. Here’s to New Beginnings & setting up our foundations in going forward. As Capricorn is said to be a Planet of Karma, this New Moon is likely to offer a new cycle, where we get liberation from the things/people who’ve been weighing us down. Pretty much the whole of 2018 was about loosening our grip. This is about reform & building from the ground up. Where do you really need to roll your sleeves up & get to work? If you start (or stop, as the case may be) with a tough project right now, you’ll get a tail wind. As Eclipses set up cycles, you’ll have a Year or so to achieve your goal… this time next Year will see you in an entirely better place if you stick with it! Saturn, Ruler of Capricorn, offers tenacity & discipline, if nothing else.
The Full Moon is a Total Lunar Eclipse & will be on Monday January 21st, at 16:15 @0 Degrees of Leo. As is befitting for Leo, we’ll be hearing dramatic things like “Blood Moon” because of atmospheric conditions… & “Super Moon”, as the Moons proximity is closer than usual to the Earth. However we slice it though, things will be bubbling up from our inner selves & coming to the surface. Cycles are finishing up & we’re cleaning house & moving to the next level! It’s all about getting clear & bringing into development more of our hearts purpose & creative selves. Leo deals with those things, whilst Aquarian Energy is about uniqueness & authenticity. Busting out of “The Norm” & truly carving our OWN path. Old Rules & Regulations won’t pin us down & define us any more. I’d say it’s about throwing off our old cloaks & showing off our true selves… daring to be different! Ditch your old patterns, this is the time for it.
Eclipses get a bad name because they tend to bring in sudden changes & unexpected events. Usually though, these are things either you or someone near you has been working toward anyway. It will depend on your own Chart which areas of your life may be effected, but if you view happenings as sped up events, you’ll be able to use the shifts to your advantage & innovate. Usually, past patterns, often subconscious, are governing us & often not to our best advantage. When Eclipses come through, change is coming by hook or by crook. It’s better YOU choose to harness & take control of things, rather than having outside forces drive. In the end, it’s all about personal evolution & growth. Go with the flow.
Neither of these Eclipses will be visible here in AU. Though the next, in July, will be… in some places.
Finally, I know I come across as being a little too serious (ok… outright party pooper) sometimes, but I see SO much pink, superficial, FLUFFY Astrology out there these days!! I don’t find it constructive to gloss over the tough stuff. I guess I was a good Girl Guide, I think you should “Be prepared”. So I attempt to be realistic, without sounding too dark, I want you all to be aware of your potential challenges & to get through in one, solid piece. I mention this now because it’s a New Year & I’d LOVE to be all sweetness & light, but this is the real World we live in! Very few need help with their happiness but many can use an anchor in a storm.
