Happy New Year & indeed, Happy New Decade Everyone!

We’re starting out with a Capricorn Party, with no less than five Planets in residence. As I’ve mentioned before, after the past Year of take-downs, we now get to start building again. I’m fairly confident that most of us have had a LOT prised out of our hands, along with a few bucket fulls of ice cold reality checks, but we KNOW where we stand & much of what it will take to set up our new playing fields. Capricorn Energy is great at holding us to our New Years Resolutions, so here’s to that!

Mercury & Jupiter got together to kick off our Year & this is a very nice Aspect. Mercury is said to Rule our “lower mind’ & Jupiter our “higher mind”. Basically this is where our daily thoughts & the things that preoccupy us on a mundane level work harmoniously with our bigger picture belief systems & perspectives. You can be poodling away in your day to day & suddenly get flashes of insight & ideas on how to communicate & put forward to others things which have bailed you up for a while. Another advantage, though it’s no huge thing, is that it’s a great time to put new technology (electronics etc) into play & also to get your head around assembling that new piece of furniture you’ve acquired!

The next thing of note is that Mars is moving into Sagittarius (on the 4th), & though He was high functioning in His Old School Sign of Scorpio, He’ll be gaining momentum & Fire Power now. The best way to use this is to drill down & focus on what you really want to do. Use a Sadge Mars for motivation, certainly to nail any project you’ve left undone over the silly season, but also to kick you off on your next Big Thing for the Year. Really the only way to go wrong with this is to over-do or expand too quickly. When we get a power surge like this, we can tend to over promise & say yes to waaaay too many things. It’s the Aspect of biting off more than you can chew. There may also be a tendency to come across as self righteous & inflated egos will probably abound around you, so beware of getting tangled up in arguments & bellows of hot air. If you see things accelerating too fast, maybe walk away to cool down for a little while, it’s certainly NOT a great time to throw any form of petrol on the fire.

Keep this in mind too in going forward, because around the 11th, we head into a pretty intense week involving all the Capricorn Energy, touched on above. We have our second Eclipse, along with a Sun (ego & self), Mercury (intellect & communication), Saturn (responsibility & structure) & Pluto (transformation & evolution) conjunction. A conjunction is where all these Planets are huddled together… all up in each others business, basically. No small thing, as these are issues we’ve been dealing with on & off for the past year, at the very least. When Slower moving, or “Outer Planets” (Saturn & Pluto) are involved, there’s always a sense of things being Bigger Than Us & some would say that Karmic shifts abound. I’d say these will be environmental & our meaning of what it is to be grown up comes to the fore. We’ve had A LOT of practice with this so whatever changes happen around you, take a minute to go within & re-align with your recently found New Self before taking any action. All of the above discussed Mars action can help if you apply it with laser precision & a steady hand.

During this we get a good amount of support with Uranus turning Direct, on the 12th. He’s in a fellow Earth Sign, Taurus & after having been Retrograde since August, He finally wakes up. Capricorn & Taurus play very well together, so there’ll be a big turning point with an Earthy feel to it. Earth is good when everything seems to be flying around & up in the air! Uranus offers up His powers of change for grounded liberation & we should now be able to free ourselves up, close a few gates behind us & enter a new field with a fresh horizon. Along with this, a couple of days later, on the 14th, Venus moves into Pisces, where She’s said to be “Exalted”. Venus is not only the Goddess of love & beauty, but she’s all about diplomacy & what we find of worth too. In Pisces, She’ll work toward finding harmony & She’s loving & light in Her actions. So again, during an intense few days, we have Her support. Toward the end of the Month, She’ll also be having a chat with Mars so She may be a little challenged by His fiery Energy, but as She’s backed up by Neptune (also in Pisces), She’ll assist us to get through any pushy blustering from Him! Neptune helps us heal & as the Venus & Mars dynamic often brings up the Feminine Vs Masculine debates in our lives, we can work these through with the possibility of a more balanced outcome this time.

The Full Moon falls on Saturday the 11th, at 06:21 @20 Degrees of Cancer & yes! It’s a Lunar Eclipse! When we get right down to basics with this, as it’s really quite a complicated Full Moon, we can think of it in simpler terms of the Moon being in Cancer & the Sun being in Capricorn & what those two stand for. On a personal level, Cancerian Energy is watery & therefore emotional, whereas Capricorn Energy is earthy & practical, so the Eclipse can bring up a bit of a struggle between these two. “I feel like this… but I have to do this….”. Cancer is the Sign of the home & everything feminine (love & nurturing etc.) & we often have a mind over heart battle when the internal emotional self crashes into the external “have to’s!” On a bigger, more collective level, the Moon represents “the common people” & their basic needs in life (taking care of feeding ourselves, our home… our personal resources), but the Sun part of the Eclipse is in Capricorn, which stands for “the government” & what the powers that be are intent upon (rulership, power & control). If we look outward & into Society, we can see how we’re getting whittled away & dictated to & how our liberties & freedom as individuals is being more & more crushed, controlled & dictated to. Whether we consider this Full Moon from a personal or a collective stand point, there’ll likely be a culmination point around this time & we’ll need to work out what we stand for, what we need, how to assert our boundaries & how to compromise, based on all this. As always on any Full Moon, but especially so on an Eclipsed one, take a step back & detach to think about everything before you react to whatever’s on your plate. Remember all you’ve learned of late & keep those feet on the ground! Come from a practical, logical, methodical & responsible place. If you’re triggered, think about your long game & avoid taking any quick pot shots for immediate gratification. Remember, Pluto is in Capricorn & also involved in all this, it’s ALL an evolutionary process.

The New Moon is on Saturday the 25th, at 08:41 @4 Degrees of Aquarius. By comparison, this New Moon is FAR less complicated & as Aquarian Energy has everything to do with airy detachment, we’ll be able to see relatively clearly around now & able to focus our lives from a much more intellectual point of view. Aquarius is the Sign of innovation & is known to be a tad eccentric. Though it’s one of the “immovable” Fixed Signs, it actually thrives on change & uncertainty, so you can see how paradoxical & down right unusual this Energy is. Where we’d benefit from this New Moon is with regard to our more social sides & it’s a great time to find new friends & tribes! Aquarius is a Global Citizen & as such, signs up with like minded social groups & collectives, has a humanitarian “for the greater good of all” mind set & loves hanging out in groups & communities interested in debate & contemplating the more philosophical questions of our existence. Whatever these things mean for you & however they tie in to your more adventurous side, use this New Moon to initiate a new path. The New Moon has a BIG boost from Uranus right now too. Interesting because Uranus is the Traditional ruling Planet of Aquarius! I’m sure we’ll all be feeling some electricity in the air & that’s exactly what’s needed to spark things up.
