What is Howlite?
The stone was discovered in 1868 by J.D. Dana and named for Canadian chemist H. How who discovered it. Howlite is white with grayish veins. It is often artificially dyed blue or green to resemble turquoise, or red to resemble coral. Howlite is a super-calming stone and many people use it to relieve stress of all kinds. It makes an excellent antidote to insomnia due to an overactive mind.
Blue Howlite is sometimes called Turquenite because of its resemblance to Turquoise. Blue Howlite has all the properties of white Howlite.
