The Egyptian goddess of rebirth, Isis remains one of the most familiar images of empowered femininity. Isis was a Goddess & the eldest daughter of Geb & Nut; a God of the Earth & Goddess of the Overarching Sky retrospectively. Isis was born on the first day of the first years of all creation. She was adored by her Earthbound human followers. Unlike other Egyptian Goddesses, Isis spent time amongst her people, teaching women how to grind corn and make bread, how to spin & weave cloth, & it's also said, how to "tame" men enough to live with them. Isis taught also her people the skills of reading & agriculture & was also much worshiped as the goddess of wisdom & medicine.
